The New Chronicles of Malachai Blog Page

It seems that it has been a bit of time since I last posted to the blog, but it is with a good reason. I have spent the last few months putting the final touches on the much anticipated second book in the Chronicles of Malachai series entitled, "The Purpose".

Originally my goal was to fulfill a life long dream to write a novel and possibly write a short series of two or three books with it. "The Gift" was the fulfillment, but it also ignited my love and passion for writing. After receiving much positive feedback about "The Gift", plus the opportunities it opened up to talk about a sometimes controversial and taboo subject regarding the spirit realm, I decided to continue Malachai's journey by beginning "The Purpose".

My wife, two sons and I decided in order to properly share Malachai's experiences it may actually take more than even three books. So, The Chronicles of Malachai has been born and will span five books and possibly more if need be.

Each book within the series will reveal more about the spiritual war itself and continue the growth of Malachai's own abilities as he learns how to deal with the spirits or fight those who desire to destroy him. The series will also continue Malachai's exploration as to who and what Midnight and these demons really are and want; plus, the books will reveal more about God's overall purpose for Malachai and his gift as well.

The first book, "The Gift", introduced the main character, Malachai, and shared about his spiritual abilities of seeing the spirit world around him, as well as, the truth within the hearts of the people he met. Malachai could see the angels and demons that exist around us all and how they work to influence us to for the better or worse. He saw the angels trying to teach and help people become what they were created to be. And he saw the demons deceiving and leading people to fulfilling their own desires and forgetting who they were meant to be.

The spiritual war raging on around us and visible to Malachai within "The Gift", revealed a level of organized structure and ruling authorities on both sides which helped to introduced Malachai's biggest adversary and a very powerful demonic ruler named, Midnight.Midnight's main objective was then to teach Malachai the "truth" about God and all His creation, in hopes that Malachai would learn to trust him and eventually serve along with him. However, one of the main lessons Malachai learns is to believe not only in God but also in what God created  him to be and why He gave Malachai this ability to see the spirit world in the first place.

The second book, "The Purpose", will continue Malachai's journey to realizing why God gave him this ability in the first place. There is a purpose for everything God does and Malachai must choose what to do with his gift and who he should use it for as well. The demons would love to have Malachai join them and use what he knows to help them fight their own wars. However, they make it quite clear that if he won't join them, they will destroy him. Malachai is also faced with the choice of simply not using his abilities at all and trying to forget them. But ultimately the real struggle is the demons desire to stop Malachai from discovering who he really is and deciding to use his abilities for what God intended them for in the first place.

Over the next few weeks I will continue to post updates about Malachai's journey and the upcoming release of "The Purpose", as well as, some excerpts from both "The Gift" and "The Purpose". But in the meantime I thank you for your continued support of my work as an author and I will end this blog by sharing the following portion off the back cover of "The Purpose":

As a child Malachai experienced a very extraordinary world which surrounded him and revealed the spiritual war between the angels and demons that influenced everyone he saw. Now as a young man he is beginning to realize just how intense this war truly is and must choose which side he will fight for.

“The Purpose” is the second book in this series by Daniel Sweetnam which continues the journey of Malachai, who was given a Gift by God to see the spiritual world that co-exists alongside our own. However having this gift and choosing what to do with it proves to be a bigger struggle than Malachai expected. The angels want to help him; the demons want to destroy him; but the choice of who to trust still remains his own. Nevertheless, Malachai soon discovers there’s yet another choice he needs to make which has an even greater purpose and will establish his position within the spiritual war itself.
